ランカスターの田園地帯

Lancaster countryside

Just 10 minutes away from Lancaster's main roads you'll find yourself in vast countryside.

It's not uncommon to see Amish farms with silos (warehouse facilities for storing grain and other things) appear on the horizon and to pass by horse-drawn carriages.

In the summer, we recommend a leisurely bike ride. Along the way, you might come across stands selling freshly picked vegetables and strawberries from Amish farmers. During the Halloween season, you can often see pumpkins for sale.

However, please be aware that there are many hills in the Lancaster area, and some roads require a little physical strength. However, it seems that these hills make it difficult for tornadoes to occur, and there are fewer disasters, so people can live in peace. Japan also has many mountains, but perhaps we are unknowingly enjoying the benefit of not having tornadoes thanks to the mountains.

There are many restaurants and shops for tourists along the main road, but if you have time, it might be a good idea to avoid the busy roads and take a small detour to the side, where you might make some unexpected discoveries.
