In Lancaster, Pennsylvania, I met the Amish, who still live the same way they did when they first settled here. Their warm culture, high ethics, and dedication to work made me feel that they were somehow similar to the Japanese, even though they are from a faraway country. While living in Lancaster, I had the opportunity to interact with them and learn about the beauty of the crafts they make. I started an import agency with the hope that their works would be available in Japan and that people could enjoy authentic Amish furniture up close.

Amish furniture has already earned a high reputation in the United States as high-quality handmade furniture, but until now it has never been directly exported to Japan or anywhere else. Amish furniture craftsmen are so single-mindedly and honestly focused on making furniture that they have never even considered exporting it overseas.

Through the Amish people we made friends with there, we had many conversations with Amish furniture workshops, and were able to build a relationship with them as the first official import agent in Japan. At first, they didn't know much about Japan, but after talking to them about Japan and Japanese people, they told us that they would love to have Amish furniture used in Japan. We hope that people in Japan will be able to pick up and enjoy the handmade solid wood furniture made by the Amish.
